Galvanic Corrosion

For copper gutters we offer premium quality stainless steel strainers to prevent galvanic corrosion. Copper reacts electrochemically with aluminum (often referred to as electrolysis), eventually resulting in holes in the gutter and damage to the strainers. For this reason you should never install galvanized or aluminum strainers in copper gutters. Likewise, you should never install copper strainers in aluminum gutters.
